Steve Bluer, the developer of the luxury apartment block, Fistral Blue, again called upon Camellia to design the interior for another of their privately owned, luxury apartments.
Having been approached in 2013 to design the interior for Steve’s own apartment, Camellia understood Steve’s vision to reflect the surroundings with a contemporary design scheme that worked with the high-specification apartment, as well as the coastal lifestyle.
With its elevated position on the stunning and highly sought-after stretch of Cornish coastline, the team wanted to create a luxurious, stylish and elegant interior that mirrored the panoramic, coastal views.
In this corner of the UK, the wild seas of winter make for spectacular walks along the shoreline, enjoyed each year by hardy tourists undaunted by inclement weather. In summer, they’re replaced by hordes of surfers, as well as families taking advantage of the warm waters and sun drenched sands.
Camellia designed a versatile and flexible layout – making the property suitable for occupancy regardless of the time of year or weather. The design was successful in being both functional and beautiful. The team created an interior that works to embrace both the cold, wet weather as well as the basking sunshine that Cornwall is famous for.
Camellia also considered the flow between each area and imagined themselves in the owners shoes to see how they would need the space to work for maximum efficiency. The apartment itself had an interesting architectural interior, with angular structures that had to be accommodated when decorating and deciding on furnishings and storage solutions.
The team’s focus on encompassing the beach lifestyle influenced the flow of colours, patterns and textures throughout the apartment. They opted to highlight the stunning sea views by using relaxing neutrals and blue tones to connect with the landscape views, adding accents of copper with ochre for pops of contemporary colour.
The dynamic shapes within the furnishings were hand-picked to reflect the dramatic landscape and were carefully chosen to have understated styling and tailored details.
The fusion of space, furnishings and colour palette with the roles the apartments have to play throughout the year for their occupiers, provides the last word in luxurious coastal living.
Fully completed, the apartment now meets the needs of discerning and design aware homebuyers and investors, spending around £500,000 to purchase their slice of Cornwall.
